Maria Caceres-Bjorklund is Chef and
Owner of A Taste of Elegance, along with her husband,
Francisco Caceres-Hernandez. Maria cut her culinary
teeth early on in her childhood growing up in her parent's
homeland of Finland. All of her family are seasoned
cooks who taught their families the values of local,
seasonal ingredients and the love of holidays and family
events surrounding food. Food is the glue that binds
us all together, no matter what our cultural backgrounds.
Spending so much time in Finland was such a rich culinary
heritage for Maria as her grandfather would take her and her
siblings to islands on the coast to pick wild mushrooms and
berries. They would return to grandmothers house to
help salt and preserve the mushrooms, make juices and sauces
from all the berries, and they would also fish almost
everyday to smoke the catch and prepare dishes from the
variety of fish in the Baltic Sea.
Maria has taken her love of food and entertaining and turned
it into a full-service catering company, servicing all of
Whatcom and Skagit County.
A Taste of Elegance is a full-service catering company,
specializing in weddings, but also corporate and private
parties. The philosophy is simple in that food is to
look and taste wonderful and guests and clients are given
the organization and elegance of Martha Stewart, and yet
treated with the warmth and hospitality of Paula Dean.
We pride ourselves on the personal service we give to each
of our brides. Maria, the owner, meets with them and
goes over their menu, and also offers tips on decorations,
vendors she enjoys working with, and stream-lining the day
so that everything goes smoothly. She says it's so
important to meet with the brides and get to know them and
their likes and personalities. She enjoys having a
face in mind when cooking and preparing for the reception.
Each one is special and deserves personal treatment being as
it is the most important day in their lives. Every
detail is taken seriously and addressed, so that the bride
can feel confident that all of their needs are being handled
efficiently and carefully."One cannot think well,
love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well." Virginia
